=MXT=CTF Server current state (2014-02-13)

MXT CTF Server failed to start. For some reason It fails 80% of the time, without custom content. With custom content fails 100%. This is a still unknown bug that is under research, but so far has no known fix. It affects only Linux Versions of the game.

We (Phreeze and me) have tried our best to make It work as usual, but that hasn’t worked. So I had to switch to Stock TDM Server, and with some luck It’s working. for a CTF Server you can check the =MXT=CTF Euro server, that has the same server config, maps and mods.

This is a temporal solution to the problems, but I’m afraid this situation could be permanent, and the CTF Server will have to move to a new IP. No matter what happen next, we will move the CTF Server back to USA. We already plan to run a TDM Server, in Europe.

We will keep you all updated about the status of the server.

El MXT CTF Server no arranca. Por alguna razón falla 80% de las veces, sin contenido personalizado. Con contenido personalizado falla el 100%. Se trata de un error aún desconocido, que está siendo investigado, pero hasta ahora no hay una solución. Afecta solamente a la versión Linux del server.

Nosotros(Phreeze y yo) hemos estado tratando de hacerlo funcionar como siempre, pero no ha funcionado. Así que tuve que cambiarlo a TDM con mapas default, y con algo de suerte está funcionando. Por un servidor CTF puedes checar el =MXT=CTF Euro , que tiene la misma configuración, mapas y mods.

Esta es una solución temporal a los problemas, pero me temo que la situación podría ser permanente, y el Servidor CTF tendría que moverse a una nueva IP. No importa lo que pase después, el Servidor CTF regresará a USA. Ya tenemos también planes para correr un servidor TDM, en Europa.

Los mantendremos informados del estado del servidor.

#Day2; I’m not sure when I went to sleep; building this thing has been much harder than expected, but I’ve been ok with the result. I hope I can finish tonight ^_^

Has been some time since I build something I can actually touch, virtual environments and software are nice, but this is something entirely different 😀

La avalancha de palabras en mi mente no se detiene, sino hasta que llega al punto en que tengo que idear una manera de dejar de hacer lo que hago para comenzar a escribirlo. Ahí mueren como burbujas cayendo al suelo, como ilusiones y sueños cuando a la realidad enfrento; en especial si no dejo tomar control al niño… que llevo dentro.

FEAR Combat: The Free Zombie

The FREE Game: FEAR Combat was shut down by GameSpy, the last service supporting It on 2013-Dec-05. It has been 1 year, 1 month and 5 days since then, and the game keeps moving.

At that time, only 1/3 of the running Servers were SEC2 Servers. Today, all of them are SEC2 (Including those who claim are not!). The top 3 servers are full as I type.

This has been thanks to the Development made by [eAu]Phreeze, the guy who has been donating his time to build a new master server, patch the existing server, and develop new and exciting features for the game.

My role on this has been mainly support and co-development of the site, and other stuff needed, I’ve been doing It for about 2 years, but after the shutdown It has taken some of my time every day, no stop. I also run the =MXT=CTF Server.

There’s a group of people who has been working there, every day, from their trench. Keeping their own servers, helping here and there, with ideas, advertising, modding, and organizing events and matches. They are the FEAR-Community (Even when they refuse to call themselves that way 😛 ).

Finally, there’s a base of enthusiastic players, that join the servers every day. Most of them don’t even type ingame, don’t discuss, or troll around (well, some do 😛 ). But they are constantly moving the game they love to play.

Now, FEAR Combat doesn’t depend on companies that could cut the support for It; Is not a making money machine; Is a 100% Free game.

This is FEAR-Community. Is not SEC2, Is not Phreeze and me. Is not the Master server Itself. Is the group of people who enjoy playing FEAR-Combat.

FEAR Combat is not dead, It’s zombie; a free zombie, that survived the doomsday.

Con este relato corto inauguro mi sección de publicaciones literarias. No es lo primero que escribo, pero decidí tomarme el tiempo de hacerlo público aprovechando el fin del año, o tal vez solo por mero capricho.
